In 1996, Richard and Krissy Hiteshew started A-1 Guaranteed with a simple goal: build a heating and cooling company that put quality and customer satisfaction ahead of everything else. Back then, Richard worked out in the field while Krissy ran operations from their Vallejo home garage. Now, thirty years later, that goal is still at the heart of what we do.
From that garage, A-1 has grown into a full team serving homeowners throughout Solano, Napa, Contra Costa, and the greater Bay Area. We’ve been in more than 33,000 homes, completed 9,650 installs, and helped generations of local families stay comfortable!
What “Guaranteed” Means to Us
A-1 Guaranteed has become a one-stop partner for heating, cooling, home performance, indoor air quality, and water heating. To us, “Guaranteed” means showing up with the experience to handle the job in front of us and continuing to provide support after it’s finished.
We look at the big picture to custom build a plan that makes sense for your home, including your comfort concerns, existing equipment, home layout, and budget. We stand behind our work and aim to be the contractor you can call for everything, from preventative maintenance and repairs to future upgrades and rebate guidance.
Over the years, A-1 Guaranteed has also supported local nonprofits and neighbors in need, earning recognition that includes the 2012 Spirit of Solano Award.
Still Family-Owned. Still Local.
We may have outgrown the garage, but A-1 Guaranteed never outgrew the Hiteshew family. Richard and Krissy’s children grew up helping in the warehouse, on installs, and in the office. Today, their oldest son, Nick, serves as General Manager and is helping lead us into the next generation of comfort solutions, including heat pumps and home electrification. In fact, three of the Hiteshew children and multiple extended family members also work at the company.
A-1 Guaranteed remains family-owned and operated in a time when many local contractors are being bought by large corporations or private-equity groups. That matters because the people who answer the phone, design your system, install it, and follow up afterward are invested in this community.

We’ve seen a lot of change in thirty years. From the days when most homes relied on a furnace and window AC units to today’s high-efficiency heat pumps, A-1 Guaranteed has stayed focused on doing right by Bay Area homeowners. We’re proud to have been voted Best Heating & Cooling Company in Solano County for 19 years, to be Diamond Certified, NATE certified, and a Bay Area Certified Green Business.
We are just as proud of the people who helped build A-1 along the way. Many team members have grown with the company, but we’ve also supported former coworkers as they move into their next chapter, including new HVAC businesses.
