Our Story
A-1 Guaranteed started where all great businesses are born—in a garage.
Richard Hiteshew had been working in the HVAC industry since he was 16 years old when, in 1996, he and his wife, Krissy, decided to strike out on their own. They wanted to build an HVAC company that did things right, putting quality and customer satisfaction above everything else.
Together, they built A-1 Guaranteed in the garage of their Vallejo home, with Krissy leading operations while Richard was out in the field.
Soon, the business outgrew the garage, but never the family. Richard and Krissy moved A-1 Guaranteed to a small warehouse previously used as an auto body shop, and they quickly outgrew that space, too. Finally, in 2014, they moved A-1 Guaranteed to its current headquarters in Vallejo. They continued to run and expand it together, bringing on 23 employees and all four of their children.
Today, A-1 Guaranteed remains a multi-generational, family-owned business, managed by Richard and Krissy’s oldest son, Nick. He’s taking the company into the next generation of HVAC services, implementing modern, energy-efficient solutions like heat pumps while maintaining his parents’ dedication to honest, high-quality work and excellent customer service.
Over the years, we’ve been proud to earn awards like “Best Heating & Cooling Company” in Solano County, KRON4’s Best of the Bay, and the Angie’s List Super Service Award. But what matters most is our reputation with local homeowners, many of whom we’ve served for decades.
